Evidences of EVR saying Tamil is a "Barbaric language" is already surfacing and political leaders are struggling to justify his words then and there but its a futile attempt. He looked down on Tamil and Tamil people bashing the language, literature and the people who study Tamil for a living.

He established his identity as a proud Kannadiga and published his anti-Tamil ideologies in his magazine.
His opinions on Tamil Literature & Tamil Poets
Tamil's 256 Alphabets | Seems inconvenient to learn so many alphabets. Take English as your language which only has 26 and talk to your wife and maid in English. |
Thamizh Thaai Vaazhthu | "Why take mother’s milk (Tamil)? What purpose does it serve? The first enemy of today’s progress is the people who drank mother’s breast milk.” (Periyar E.V.R. Thoughts Volume II) Even today, if those who grew up drinking the milk of The Tamil Mother had drunk English bottled milk instead, they would have been more skilled and talented, and their living conditions would have been different. |
Thirukkural | Shit on a Golden Plate |
Silappathikaaram | Vesi naadagam (Drama of a Prostitute) |
Kamban | Tamil Traitor |
Tholkappian | Aryan Stooge |
Bhaarathiyaar's (Senthamizh naadenum podhinile poem) | Lyrics mocked by him saying "Vengayam vandhu odhudhu Kaadhinile" |
Downsizing Tamizh to be merely a language and means of communication is just outright stupid. We come from a rich and dense culture and it's ok if you are not aware of the depth it carries. But to compromise your identity in the name of logic and common sense seems ignorant.
I just have 2 questions to the EVR'ites.
Who are you trying to impress with your so called "intellectualism"? Is it white people?
Do you think you are the only individual who is born with brain cells and rest are just wandering idiots? - How ignorant and blind could you be?
To be insecure about your language shows how deeply insecure you can be. With his superiority complex, EVR shamed majority of Tamil population and make them question their identity and language.
To learn a new language doesn't mean the mother tongue should be destroyed. But EVR said we should abandon Tamil.
He spoke Telugu in his home, hailing from a Kannada-speaking heritage family.
Never did he utter a word against Telugu, Kannada or Malayalam.
Try it! I dare you EVR'ites.
Try saying a single nonsensical idea that you speak, and just make a single attempt applying to other languages Telugu, Kannada or Malayalam being a "Barbaric language". You wouldn't see the light of day.
I challenge EVR'ites.
And those who take up this challenge and say this, I consider you worthy of being an ardent follower. And I would gladly convert to the religion of EVR if you are not killed by a violent mob.
He thrashed Tamil. We let him do it, and get away with it.
Dravidianism
He did not look at Tamizh people as Tamizh people. He often emphasized the word dravidianism trying to unite South India. But none of the other state agrees with his ideologies. We took the term Dravidian identity instead of our Tamizh Identity. His ideology always revolved around erasure of Tamizh Identity.
This is a word that's been marketed heavily in Tamil Nadu and they have created a fake identity which everyone thinks they are a part of.
In the name of Common sense
In this fast growing world, English is made the only survival tool for advancements. EVR goons would often say English people brought about scientific advancements. So English should be the widely adopted language.
Heck I write and maintain this website in English. (I'm reaching for a wider audience! That's it.)
English has it's benefits and learning English is necessary in this day and age because it does make our everyday life easier.
But I would never lose the identity of being Tamil, while learning any other language.
Any form of common sense should not come with losing one's own identity.
Why the insecurity?
As Tamil community, I'm guilty of being insecure too.
Why (as a collective community) do we have such massive insecurity about our own heritage and language?
Our ancestors were so sophisticated in establishing their love for Tamil they maintained societies to encourage the rich Tamil culture. "Sangam valartha Tamizh".
In our books Gods loved our language and favored it, so much so we quote Lord Murugan as Tamizh Kadavul.
Tamizh is more than a language. We are a living civilization.
And so does everyone around us. To see that civilization get obliterated in the name of "common sense" and "Scientific advancements" seems ridiculous.
English is necessary but it shouldn't come at an expense of costing us our Mother tongue.
We carry the collective identity of being Tamil. Its more than just a language.
You're deeply rooted to your language.
It's because of Tamil, you and I find similarities even if we don't have same backgrounds.
Tamil is a bridge between you and me; and I'm trying to connect with you (the reader) with my identity as a Tamil person.
Be proud that you are a Tamilian
And never let any uneducated, illiterate goon talk shit about your Mother Tongue.
