Actual History
Revolt is not a thing that happens over night. Events that were accumulating that led to 1857 revolt.
British Expansionist & unjust policies (Anglo sikh wars, Anglo Maratha wars, Battle of Plassey, Anglo Mysore wars, Carnatic wars)
All the new administrative policies affected everyone of all classes. It was aimed to push Indians to poverty (It included Rulers, Sepoys, Zamindhars, Peasants, Artisans, Pandits and Muslims were affected)
Peasant - Heavy taxation led to poor peasants.
Artisans - British goods were preferred than Indin artisan goods leading to poor artisans
Zamindhaars - Lost their land rights resulting in status loss in their own villages
Racism
British never acknowledged and mingled with Indians. They saw us as lowly creatures even the upper class and the educated ones. British Soldiers had higher salaries and status compared to Indian Sepoys. Brahmins are not allowed to cross the sea as per their caste. But this value was not respected by the Britsh and the "General Service Enlistment Act of 1856" - made Indian Sepoys to cross the Sea even if it was against their will.
Indian Sepoys were often subordinate to British Soliders.
Newly introduced cartridges coated with cow fat and pig fat were introduced and Muslims and Hindus together protested.
So idelam thaan tipping point to revolt that occured at 1857.
British narrative on revolt of 1857
British rulers changed the revolt reason to "Caste and Religion" Issue. They called this revolt as "Sepoy Mutiny". Mangal Pandey who was hanged to death was seen as a Brahmin who got furious because he bit Beef oil lined cartridges and Muslims had bit Pig oil greased cartridges.
This story was sold to Periyaarists and they sold this shit to the masses. This is the thought that is reflected in the simple above paragraph in Tamil. Rewriting history.
